Garden of Forking Paths
Last year Norman showed a diagram suggesting two separate but congerging paths for progress towards a new DAQ system. One involved evolving the old DAQ with gradual addition of DAQ -1 components. The other branch started with DAQ -1 with incorporation of relevant ingredients from the old DAQ.
Some work has been done on both paths.
We recently decided that we dont have enough effort in the UK to pursue both simultaneously. Also as the engineers would like to have a working DAQ available at all times, it was decided to continue only with the old DAQ evolution route for the moment.
Meanwhile, the DAQ group have finally accepted the strong pressures on them and will start to produce a DAQ -1 suitable for the test beam (this summer) and generally for ROD crates (probably later).
