Grid Computing

Computer RacksI help organise the computing used in the T2K experiment. We use the worldwide Large Hadron Collider Computing Grid, LCG for short. This is a collection of many normal desktop like computers connected together by fast networking at locations around the world. We use this grid network to globally distribute and process the data we take from the particle detectors in Japan and Monte Carlo simulated data. I established the T2K experiment up on the LCG and authored a package of tools to manage the various tasks to be performed. I now have a role overseeing the experiments computing efforts as a convener of the computing group.
