Grid Computing
I was a founder of the computing used in the T2K experiment. T2K uses the worldwide Large Hadron Collider Computing Grid, LCG for short. This is a collection of many normal desktop like computers connected together by fast networking at locations around the world. The grid network is used to globally distribute and process data taken from the particle detectors in Japan and Monte Carlo simulated data. I set the T2K experiment up on the LCG and authored a package of tools to manage the various tasks to be performed. For three years I took a role overseeing the experiments computing efforts as a convener of the computing group.
