DAQ -1 Problems

Problems

• Incompatible shared libraries (lesstif 0.87 vs 0.88) providing different versions of Motif. Lesstif is an extra package, not part of the standard RedHat installation. Most DAQ -1 GUIs use Motif (apart from new Java based Integrated GUI).
• Some time to understand and fudge around this
• Grumbled about number of steps involved in getting it all going. Response: some steps inevitable; others much improved with an extra script in the next release.
• BUT still cant get test DAQ system to work. (Even though running the failing components by hand for the nodding MRS tests is fine). Fix was suggested (but not tried yet). Fix will also be in the next release (due soon).

• Run control tutorial; make our own noddy run controller.
