Hello, I've now run through most of the data files that are of importance to the L1Calo TB analysis (those listed on Murrough's run page) and found where event slippage occured. After the body of this email you will see a list of the runs and offsets for various event ranges within those runs. These can either be used to correct for slippage in analysing data, or just select runs and event ranges that should be OK. I've also attached the simple program which was used to produce these. It's very easy to use and adapt if anyone else wants to look at BC numbers. It requires no external libraries, it's just a simple standalone program that just needs testbeam data files as input - the usage requires two program arguments, which are the name of the first data file in a run, and then the number of data files in that run (can just use 1 if you're only interested in the first file). I discovered a few new things along the way: * Runs 1558-1566 did not seem to show this problem. * Runs 1662-1666 seemed to be particularly poor, but runs 1668 and 1670 are OK again (possibly just less data?). * Runs 1727 and 1729 actually show the opposite problem - ie L1Calo inserts extra events. This is indicated below by a negative, rather than positive, offset. However, run 1728 is fine! * Run 1816 actually did have a couple of event losses by L1Calo (despite what I said in an earlier email) but there is no evidence that these are correlated with problems in other systems. It seems from the data that in these cases it is only L1Calo that goes wrong, so it does seem to localise the problem to our TTCvi. I hope others find this information useful. As far as I am concerned, this concludes my work on BC number investigations, but if anyone has any bright ideas for other things to look at, feel free to ask me.
