Into the mountains of Barbagia (Roman Barbaria), the
region none of the Sardinia's many invaders
could ever control. Many Sardinian villages have the odd mural, but the mountain
village of Orgosolo
(notorious as a centre for bandits) has a couple of hundred, painted starting
in the 1960s and
continuing today. This one in Via Allende comments on Tiananmen Square.
