The most striking thing of all the ruins in Sardinia
is the 7000 or so nuraghic remains. This
was a bronze-age society that left behind impressive structures called nuraghi
(see later).
The Santa Cristina site has a pilgrimage church, a nuraghic village dating back to about 1800
BC,
and most impressively this well temple (10th century BC). The structure and
steps look like they
were built yesterday.
