Lazy Liquids

bitumenLazy Liquids is a cross disciplinary project with condensed matter physicists at QMUL. There is a divide in the condensed matter theory community – some believe glass like substances to be liquid like and other more like solids. This experiment takes periodic photographs of extremely viscous bitumen to form time lapse movies (below) showing the slow flow over a long period of time.

The project name and idea was inspired after this piece in the Metro newspaper.
