In a pioneering project I was paired with artist Lyndall Phelps to produce a piece of art to be commissioned by the Institute of Physics (IOP). The project, named Superpositions, involved Lyndall and myself meeting several times and discussing many aspects of particle physics, particle detectors and research over a six month period.
The culmination of the project was a particle physics detector inspired installation titled Covariance in the underground ice wells of the London Canal Museum. It was exhibited from 24th August until the 20th October 2013. There were also two in conversation events on the evenings of September 19th and October 17th during which the science and artistic method was discussed.
