Resource Broker Summary

When you submit a job to the Grid, software on a "Resource Broker" (RB) examines the requirements of your job in terms of CPU time, memory, software, operating system, etc. It then sends your job to the best matched site it can find, taking into account factors such as the number of CPUs at the site and the number of jobs already running.

The UK has a number of Resource Brokers available to users. The availability of these is tested every 15 minutes by submitting simple echo "Hello World" jobs to each RB, to run on any available UK resources. If such a job has run successfully within the last 30 mins then the status is "Good". If such a job has run successfully within the last 60 mins then the status is "Fair". Otherwise the status is "Bad".
